One repost described Obama as “the most DEMONIC FORCE in American politics in decades” and called for mass arrests and prosecutions tied to alleged efforts to undermine Trump politically.
Another repost from a pro-MAGA account accused Obama of helping fabricate claims that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to damage Trump’s presidency.
“Arrest Obama the traitor,” the repost stated.
Several of the messages repeated allegations Trump has made for years regarding surveillance and investigations connected to his 2016 campaign. Trump has repeatedly described those investigations as “the biggest political crime in American history.”
Some reposts also referenced comments and past reports involving Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, including earlier claims that officials within Obama’s administration promoted narratives about Russian election interference for political purposes.
Obama previously denied such accusations, describing them as “bizarre” and calling them an attempt to distract from other issues.
Other reposts appeared to revisit controversy surrounding Hillary Clinton and her private email server, although no new evidence was presented in the posts Trump shared.
The late-night activity quickly sparked renewed debate online, with critics accusing Trump of escalating political rhetoric while supporters defended him as continuing to challenge what they view as misconduct tied to investigations into his campaign and presidency.
The social media spree also comes months after controversy surrounding an AI-generated video Trump previously shared online. The video depicted Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama in an offensive and widely criticized manner.
In a recent interview with The New Yorker, Obama addressed the incident and said he does not necessarily take attacks against himself personally, but feels differently when his family is targeted.
“I don’t take it personally,” Obama said.
But he added that attacks involving his wife and children cross a line for him.
“I’m always offended when my wife and kids get dragged into things, because they didn’t choose this,” he explained. “That’s a line that even people whose politics I deeply reject, I would expect them to care about.”
Obama also said he would never speak about another politician’s family in the same way.
The renewed exchange highlights how tensions between Trump and Obama continue to remain a powerful part of American political discourse years after both men left — and later returned to — the center of national politics.
