The City of San Jose has released extensive body-worn camera and aerial footage detailing a violent confrontation between officers and a suspect identified as Mohamed Husien.
According to authorities, Husien was suspected in a series of serious crimes, including reported carjackings and robberies, before the situation escalated into an armed encounter with police.
Officials say responding officer Sgt. Gerardo Silva drove toward the suspect during the pursuit. Video shows the patrol vehicle approaching Husien moments before gunfire erupts shortly after the officer exits the vehicle.
Despite being struck, Sgt. Silva continued pursuing the suspect on foot, according to police statements and footage released.
Authorities state that Husien then ran toward a civilian vehicle in what investigators believe was an attempted carjacking. Multiple officers discharged their firearms during that moment.
The newly released materials include nine separate body-camera angles along with helicopter footage, providing a detailed timeline of the fast-moving incident.
San Jose officials say the release is part of their transparency policy following officer-involved shootings. The incident remains under investigation, and further findings will be determined through standard review procedures.
