For nearly three weeks, a mother noticed her eight-year-old daughter repeating the same unusual sentence every night before bedtime: “Mom… my bed feels too tight.” At first, it sounded like the kind of phrase a child might use when trying to describe discomfort. The mattress seemed perfectly normal, and nothing about the bed frame or the room appeared unusual. Assuming it might simply be imagination or a sign that her daughter was growing and adjusting to changes, the mother reassured her and tried not to worry. But the child continued saying the same thing night after night, insisting that something about the bed felt strange. Wanting to help her sleep more comfortably, the family even replaced the mattress, hoping that would solve the problem. For one peaceful night, everything seemed fine—but soon the complaints returned.
