A convicted child killer was fatally shot shortly after walking out of prison in Brazil, bringing one of the country’s most notorious criminal cases back into the public spotlight.
The victim was identified as João Ferreira da Silva, 46, who had served approximately 20 years of a 42-year prison sentence for the 2005 rape and murder of a nine-year-old boy.
